Lawrence Kast

Vice President, Global Government Relations Honeywell International

Larry Kast is Vice President, Government Relations, for Honeywell International. In his current position, Mr. Kast leads all aspects of the Company’s government relations function in the U.S. states and serves on the Global Government Relations Leadership Team. Mr. Kast also leads the global government relations support for the Company’s manufacturing operations and grants and incentives program and he serves on the Honeywell Humanitarian Relief Fund Board of Directors. He is responsible for interacting with the Company’s business leadership to determine government relations priorities, and for developing and implementing strategies for achieving Company objectives by securing legislation, regulations, and government decisions that enable growth. Mr. Kast also serves on the leadership committee for the Company’s political action committee. Immediately prior to this position, Mr. Kast served as the global government relations leader for the Company’s Building Technologies strategic business unit. In the past, Mr. Kast served as Director of Government Relations for Honeywell with primary responsibility for federal issues affecting Honeywell’s Performance Materials and Technologies business as well as special projects regarding environmental and energy issues affecting Honeywell. Mr. Kast is Six Sigma Greenbelt certified.

Prior to joining Honeywell, Mr. Kast was a principal with Freshman Kast, Inc. and an expert on government relations specializing in water resources, environmental, and natural resource consulting. For over 15 years, Mr. Kast developed and implemented successful advocacy strategies on behalf of his clients on issues as diverse as the rural sanitation needs of Alaska native villages to the regulation of marine mammals in parks and aquariums. He is an expert in legislative and regulatory initiatives on issues involving clean water, drinking water, endangered species, water allocation and reclamation, flood control, marine mammals, and other environmental policy and permitting issues. He served as a senior political advisor to a Fortune 200 company on strategic environmental and natural resource matters. Mr. Kast represented corporations, municipalities, and non-profit organizations in California, New York, South Dakota, Missouri, and Texas.

A graduate of the University of Vermont in 1986, where he earned dean’s list honors in environmental studies, Mr. Kast worked with the Vermont Natural Resource Council researching environmental issues affecting Vermont, including agriculture, tax legislation, and land-use issues. While a staff assistant to the U.S. House of Representatives’ Committee on Science, Space and Technology, Mr. Kast analyzed issues relating to the environment, energy, and science and technology, helping prepare committee members for hearings and markups. After his service on Capitol Hill, he rose through the ranks of the prestigious environmental consulting firm of Jellinek, Schwartz, Connolly, and Freshman, Inc. Mr. Kast lives in Annapolis, Maryland with his wife and two sons.
