Janet Spear

Plant Manager, Abraxis BioScience, LLC (a wholly owned subsidiary of Celgene Corporation)

Janet Spear has held the position of Plant Manager at the sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing facility of Abraxis BioScience (a wholly owned subsidiary of Celgene Corporation), since August of 2007. Having worked in the highly regulated pharmaceutical industry for over 25 years, her experience includes an extensive background in Operations Management, Project Management, Strategic Planning and Quality Systems.

Her previous positions include Director of Operations with Watson Pharmaceuticals (formerly Schein Pharmaceutical), as well as director level appointments in Manufacturing and Project Management. Prior to joining Watson, she held positions of increasing responsibility in manufacturing management within The Upjohn Company (currently Pfizer) in Kalamazoo, MI, and management positions within technical operations and microbiology for International Medication Systems in South El Monte, CA.

Janet continues to be an active proponent of healthcare and bioindustry related activities within the Arizona community and is actively involved in many supporting areas. In addition to proudly serving as a board member for the Arizona Chamber of Commerce Manufacturer’s Council, she also serves on the board of the Arizona BioIndustry Association. In support of an initiative of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, she holds the position of co-chair on their Healthcare Leadership Council, an advisory group focused on establishing and differentiating Greater Phoenix as a healthcare leader and next-generation bioscience community.

On the educational forefront, she has participated as guest lecturer for the Biotechnology Department at Glendale Community College since 2007, and continues to coordinate with the department chair on curricula advisement geared towards career development in the biotechnology arena.

Janet’s academic credentials include an MBA from California Polytechnic University and a BS in Microbiology/Chemistry from Iowa State University.

Janet has been a resident of Arizona since 1993, and has two sons currently attending college. Residing in Cave Creek, she and her husband enjoy the backdrop of the desert surroundings and the outdoor activities that come with the territory.
